Baptisms at Khoswe March 2021
At the end of March a number of different branches of the church got together in the village of Khoswe to celebrate the baptism by immersion of 34 believers (see the two photographs).
Please pray for the ongoing work of the Church of the Disciples of Jesus - for the believers freshly baptised to grow in their faith and witness as they have returned to their home churches; and for all the other churches and their ministry in rural villages.
Recent Church visits 2021
Leaders from the Church of the Disciples of Jesus have continued to make visits to their churches to encourage and teach them. These photos show Joseph’s team from Kasungu (left) and the church at Mbozi (right).
Church growth in the villages 2021
It has been encouraging to witness how the Church of the Disciples of Jesus, across both Malawi and Mozambique, has continued to grow in maturity and in numbers during the past 12 months.
In the villages of Chidya, Mkhala, Mdzole and Yamwala CDJ members have constructed church buildings, making the bricks and building the walls themselves.
SM is helping with funding for roof timbers, steel roofing sheets and temporary plastic sheets for the roof constructions. These photos are of two of the completed buildings: at Chidya and Mdzole.
News from Julian and Caroline 2021Julian writes, "Caroline and I (but mainly myself) feel that we have been hibernating a little during this long winter as the photo shows (right). As lockdown eases and we are beginning to see people and family once again it seems that we are returning to a more normal pattern of life. Our thoughts are turning to a possible visit to Malawi in the autumn or next winter, as God allows. In the meantime we wish to use our gifts in His service as opportunity presents itself. Please pray for us as we look for such opportunities during the next few months. We thank you for upholding us over the last difficult season. Bless you all." |
Women’s Conference at Chabwanda
Organised by the leaders of the Church of the Disciples of Jesus (CDJ)
This teaching conference on 22nd June, for the women of the churches in the Dedza area, was planned to be held in the church building at the village of Chabwanda, where the Chief of the village was delighted to be invited to attend. So many women attended from the villages that, in the end, the church was overwhelmed and the conference had to be held in the open air. |
The leaders report that the conference was a success with many women testifying to the ‘wonderful things’ that God was doing in their lives right now. They would be returning to their villages to share their experiences and how God had spoken to them at this time.
These photographs were taken at the conference.
Rooted in Jesus Training Event
During July training was undertaken in the Lilongwe area to help leaders to use the new Rooted in Jesus material. This is a discipleship course prepared by The Mathetes Trust and has been used in over ninety dioceses, denominations and theological colleges in Africa.
Here are two photos taken from that event.
